PlayStation 5 revealed! Here’s all you need to know.

After postponing the reveal event from 4th June 2020 to 11th June 2020 (5th June to 11th June if you’re in the eastern hemisphere), Sony finally revealed the PlayStation 5.

The event wasn’t anything like your conventional launch event but nothing is conventional about the situation we are going through right now.

And before you ask, NO! the pricing has not been revealed yet.

But if the rumors are correct and the accidental price listing by Amazon in the UK, we can expect it to be around ₹50,000 to ₹60,000.

Now, as the pricing is out of the way, let’s talk about the event and the games revealed which I am excited about before we talk about the console itself.

PlayStation 5 Launch Event

The event started with a montage of some of the best games PlayStation 4 had. and then we moved on to the games reveal for PlayStation 5.

The event lasted almost 1 hour and 15 minutes in which we had a look at the console and the other accessories for like a mere 10 minutes if not less.

What about the remaining 1 hour, you ask?

They showcased games that are going to be available at the time of launch or soon after that by various developers and trust me, the list is shocking.

Let’s talk about the games I am really excited about next!

Games Revealed

There were a few games which were revealed which I wasn’t expecting at all.

1. Horizon Forbidden West

Hell yeah!!! If you own a PlayStation 4 or ever thought about owning one, you’d have come across Horizon Zero Dawn.

This game is one of the best open world games with a really deep story and graphics which no other game could match.

If you own a PlayStation 4 and have not played it yet, I highly recommend you to leave Fortnite behind and play this masterpiece.

It is cheaper on the PlayStation store so I’d suggest you get it from there if you are not a disc junkie like me.

Also, if you’re a PC or an Xbox user, keep dreaming! you ain’t getting it on those platforms!!

2. Marvel’s Spider-man: Miles Morales

Back to back bangers, I’d say.

Marvel’s Spider-man was launched on PlayStation 4 in 2018. It was easily one of the best games I’ve played on the PlayStation so far.
I was hooked and I even bought the 3 DLCs launched later in the year.

The beautiful city of New York with your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-man slinging around beating thugs and villains was a sight to watch and play.

The gameplay mechanics would remind you of the Batman Arkham Series, (which ended with Arkham Knight, which you should definitely check out btw!) so smooth and yet so exciting.

Now, at the end of the first Spider-man game, Miles got his powers towards the end of the main storyline and that’s when we knew that the second part will be coming but I wasn’t expecting it to be coming so soon! (Holiday 2020).

If you have a PlayStation 4 (yes, it’s an exclusive as well) and haven’t played the first Spiderman yet, I’d repeat what I said for HZD!, leave your Fortnite behind, spend a few bucks (discounted bucks as Sony’s Days of Play event is going on till 17th of June) and play this amazing (pun-intended) game!!

3. Hitman III

Your favourite Hitman, Agent 47 is back with Hitman III to fulfill his most important and challenging contracts yet!

Hitman III is the concluding part of the World of Assassination Trilogy and the trailer sure looks like it is going to be hell of a fun to play.

Good thing for all you PC and Xbox owning peasants, it’s not a PlayStation exclusive and it’s also coming to the soon going to be older generation of consoles like Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

It’s a sequel, so, to enjoy it to the fullest, I’d suggest you to play the first two parts as well. Available on all three major gaming platforms!

4. Resident Evil VIIIage

That’s Village in the name by the way. But it’s also the 8th installment in the Resident Evil series, so, a little bit of wordplay came in handy for the team.

Everyone must be familiar with the Resident Evil franchise. Even if you’re not into gaming, you must have watched one or two of the 6 movies released over the span of 15 years (2002 – 2017).

But what you don’t know is that the movies are loosely based on games! First resident evil game was launched in 1996.

Surprisingly, almost all the Resident Evil games are available to play on PC, Xbox and PlayStation right now. They have been remastered to bring them to the latest generation of consoles over the time.

Resident Evil franchise make Post Apocalypse Zombie ridden survival based games and they’re helluva scary!!!

The trailer for Resident Evil Village looks promising and I am really excited to play it when I buy a PlayStation 5.

5. GTA V……………….again -_-

To everyone who got excited watching that Rockstar logo pop-up during during the live event, this was a definite punch in the gut ;-;

It’s been 8 years since the launch of GTA V and our hopes for getting GTA VI anytime soon was killed again by Rockstar?

But yet again launching the GTA V on the PlayStation 5 “featuring a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the console’s powerful new hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever.“

We don’t want that Rockstar!!! I know people who have completed the game multiple times!! We want GTA VI.

Similarly, GTA Online will be available on PS 5 with some exclusive content.

GTA V was made available for Free for PC users by Epic games recently.

Also, if you’re a PS plus member and own GTA V, you’ll get a million dollars every month in your GTA Online maze account if you login. So, don’t forget to login. That’s a plus I guess.

6. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

Ratchet and Clank is again a well known Franchise which has build a fan-base over the years.

The characters Ratchet and Clank are very likeable and the gameplay looks really amazing.

Ratchet and Clank has always been really fun to play and I’d suggest you play the remastered edition if you have a PlayStation 4.

As the name suggests and a little bit of gameplay we were able to see, Rift apart is built around the concept of inter-dimensional drift and time travel and looks really amazing and fun to play.

But there were two games which are fairly new to me and I am really looking forward to play them.

1. Demon’s Souls

The game itself isn’t actually new but I’ve never played it before.

Demon’s Souls is the remake of the old PS 3 classic by the same name.

I don’t know how to explain it but the game is full of might characters, magic and very battle intensive environment.

The trailer had this “God of War + Blood Borne + Devil May Cry” vibe and I really loved it.

Looking forward to play this game on the PlayStation 5.

2. Godfall

I am a sucker for RPG games, the level of customization you can give to your character to make it your own is usually the most exciting thing about RPGs for me.

And Godfall do exactly that. We have different playstyles, different weapons and plethora of cosmetic customizations.

I really loved the gameplay for this slasher- looter based RPG and I am sure that you will too.

Yeah yeah, I know. I am coming to the console!!

The PlayStation 5

Sony unveiled 2 models for their latest PlayStation 5 console.

• PlayStation 5
• PlayStation 5 Digital Edition

Digital Edition doesn’t have that 4K Blu-ray drive which make it a little thin and more symmetrical.

It’s going to be priced a little lower than the disc model but the starting price is expected to be around $600-700 anyway for PlayStation 5 which isn’t inexpensive at all.

The Black and White contrast is really refreshing, opposed to the only black aesthetics which was a norm for a very long time.

But it’ll get dirty real quick.

The console is vertically places, so, for someone as clumsy as me, it’s a red flag. If the base isn’t stable enough, I’d topple it right and left.

We’ll have to see how that will workout once the console comes out.

• Memory – 16GB
• Storage – 825 GB custom SSD
• Expandable Storage – NVMe SSD slot (speculated)

Yeah, I am confused with the 825GB storage as well. We’ll have to see at the launch how that’ll pan out.

Accessories

• DualSense controller – Sony dropped their iconic DualShock controller to make way for the latest DualSense series.
  DualSense looks a little bigger than the DualShock series, and shaped more like your Xbox controller.

• Pulse 3D wireless headset – Again, moving away from the PlayStation Gold and Platinum series headphones, Sony revealed their latest model, Pulse 3D.
  They look really good and comfortable. They’re really crucial if you wish to take that 3D submersive experience to the next level.

• PlayStation 5 camera – I was expecting a PlayStation VR upgrade but what we got was the new PlayStation 5 camera.
  The latest PlayStation camera would work with the current generation of PlayStation VR and make it perform even better.

• PlayStation 5 media remote – Sony plans to portrait its next console to be portrait as more than just a gaming console.
  They want to portrait it as a media player which will be your one stop media solution which brings PlayStation 5’s media remote into picture.
  The remote itself looks really sleek and stylish and have all the buttons a media remote needs.

• DualSense charging dock – Sony launched a charging dock for its DualSense controllers.
  The dock can hold two controllers at once and match the whole black and white aesthetics of the PlayStation 5.

Conclusion

I really like the whole Black and White aesthetics going with the PlayStation 5 and all its accessories.

But white means that it can get dirty real quick. I believe dbrand got us covered with that one though.

The launch games looks really promising and with the “speculated” backward compatibility on the table, we have a really solid line-up at our hands.

The pricing still remains an issue but keeping that aside, I see PlayStation 5 giving a really tough fight to the Xbox Series X.

The blog turned up a little longer than I wanted but there was so much to discuss and talk about!
